PHANEROO~DEVOTION 29th March 2016 Apostle Grace Lubega LESSONS IN VIRTUE IV

[1 Peter 3:1-2]; Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

It is possible for a woman to make conversation without words. Some women only understand conversations with words. I have seen this problem in many couples I have talked with.

When you get married to a man, the first thing you submit as a wife are your words. The Bible says that the virtuous woman opens her mouth with wisdom.
There are certain things you should never say to your husband. That is why in the buganda culture, there's a saying that there are certain mouths that cannot ‘cook’ because of the nature of what they speak and how they speak.

I repeat- the first thing you submit is the way you talk back to your husband.
Peter speaks of women as needing to have a chaste conversation. Chaste means disciplined. It means that any woman who is ready to be married must have a disciplined conversation.

Marriages break more quickly because of the way some women speak. Like you don’t talk back to God in an irresponsible manner, in the same way, how you talk back to your husband  is also very important. You are to be subject to him, as unto the Lord(Eph 5:22). This is for your good and it's strength as a helper.
