Bwayos talks about the newly released vuka boda remix courtesy of Glow magazine UG

What does the song “Vuka Boda” mean to

you?
Well to me VUKA BODA simply means
crossing over from the law to the grace.
What was the inspiration of “Vuka Boda”
when you first did the song?
I realized that men / youth were carnally
minded; doing drugs, going for raves,
fornication etc. See, what broke my heart
was that most of these ‘fellas’ where church
people. After praying and fasting God gave
me this idea of telling people to crossover;
to make it catchy, relevant and unique, I
had to blend it with Swahili and Luganda.
What made you decide to do the remix?
The song had become popular and
immediately I remembered this scripture
acts chapter 3 where Peter ministered
healing unto the man who was born lame.
Now their aim (peter and John) was to get
the attention of the people so that they
preach to them. Using the same concept, I
decided to preach to God’s people since I
now have their attention through the remix.
How did you choose the artists on the remix
and why?
Lyll Mykk approached me and he asked me
whether we could do the remix. At first I
was hesitant but when I saw him insisting
and he was speaking from a spiritual
aspect, I said yes. But however suggested
that should have a female emcee and Mc
Yallah was on my mind. Mc Yallah had seen
me minister on stage before and when I
approached her, it was a straight YES. With
Ojay , we met after having a performance
at the hour of power an event organized by
Miracle Center Cathedral which takes place
every Friday at the pool in MUK. We
sampled Ojay the beat and said “I want to
be on it”. This whole thing was totally
quickened with power of the Holy Ghost.
According to you, what was the best punch
line in the remix?
Hahahahaaaaaa!!! That’s a hard one coz
everybody had punch lines. However , I like
this one on Mc Yallah’s verse: “WAVIVU
WALEVI WAVUVI WOTE WANA VUA” meaning
“the lazy the drunkards the fishermen all
are fishing”
What’s the message that you are sending
out to the people in the song?
We’re telling them about the freedom after
getting saved. In my verse I dropped two
scriptures, Romans8:1 and JOSHUA1:8.
We’re also sensitizing people on drugs,
addiction, peer pressure, fornication and
depression among others.
Lastly, give credit to the people who worked
on the project.
I would like to first of all thank the Lord
God Almighty for making manifest. To DJ
Loop of Sneed Ent, Skillls of Roy Studios,
my big siz Mc Yallah, my homebuoy Lyll
Mykk , my ninja Ojay, then to my cell
members (SECTION C1G3) and y’all that
have kept praying for the project behind
the scenes yaani chini ya maji.
